Spartaco Ripa is a painter, illustrator and cartoonist.
He began back in 1980, publishing with the Paris-based Edition Du Bois de Boulogne and with Edifumetto in Milan.
From 1995 to 2015 he collaborated with the children’s magazine “Il Giornalino” of the “Edizioni Paoline” drawing various characters including (Angelo Dei – Star Trash – Supergame – Le favole di nonno Nedo).
He currently collaborates with various publishers including “Aurea Editoriale” (formerly EURA) for “Lancio Story” and “Skorpio“, “Trapassati Inc. ” (John Doe) by Lorenzo Bartoli, “Urbes Occultae” by Alessandro Di Virgilio, “L’amore ai Tempi del Morbo” by R. Dal Pra, “Cuori da Bartoli” by Lorenzo Bartoli and with the children’s newspaper “Il Giornalino” by “Edizioni Paoline“.
For “Feltrinelli Editore” he illustrated “La Storia di Capitan Patchwork“, based on the novel “Terra!” by Stefano Benni and the children’s tale “L’invenzione del Naso e altre Storie” by Claudio Baglioni and Paola Massari.
In 2013, for “Albeggi Edizioni“, the book of poems by Gian Carlo Di Renzo “I viaggi di Doctor G.“.
Between 2016 and 2018, directed by Alberto Di Giglio for “Mediterranea Production” he illustrated the docufilms “Con il Vento nel Petto“, “Troverai un Cuore” and “La Forza di una Scelta“.
For Istituto Luce di Cinecittà he illustrated the docufilm “L’uomo che non Cambiò la Storia” by Enrico Caria winner of the 2017 Golden Globe
In 2019 he illustrated La Città in Fondo al Mare by Mauro Grimaldi, winner of the Racalmare Leonardo Sciascia Award for children’s publishing.
For “Il Formichiere Editore” he illustrated “Raccontini di Viaggio” and “L invito Valente” by Gian Carlo Di Renzo in 2020.
For “DGF-Lab” editions in 2020 “Storia di Leo, Il Bambino che Sconfisse il Covid con la Fantasia“, written by Mauro Grimaldi.
Since 1980 he has worked as a freelancer for various advertising agencies in Rome and Milan as an illustrator and storyboard-artist.
